Betano becomes exclusive bookmaker with sponsorship in 2021 Carioca Championship

At the opening of the Guanabara Cup, Flamengo defeated Nova Iguaçu 1 to 0, at the Maracanã in a match with a strong presence of the Betano brand in the advertising posters of the stadium. The European betting house signed an exclusivity agreement in its segment for the entire Carioca Championship (Rio de Janeiro state tournament) in what represents its second activation in Brazilian football, as it is already a master sponsor of Atletico Mineiro. There would be idea of other actions in the future.

“For the moment, we will be present only on Carioca, but wherever we see opportunities, we will go after them,” Betano’s CMO, Panos Konstantopoulos, told GMB exclusively.

In last night's game and in those of the entire tournament, the Betano brand can be seen in advertising posters behind two goals and also the LEDs around the pitch.

 



The agreement reached by Betano gives the company presence (Betting category exclusivity) as a bookmaker in this type of sponsorship until the end of the championship, in May.

Betano acquired the publicity rights to:

  • 15 matches on Open TV + streaming
  • 72 matches on Pay Per view

“We chose the Carioca Championship because of a combination of the benefits, the clubs, the price and the reach to a bigger audience,” explains Konstantopoulos.

In January of this year, Betano had made its first move into local football by signing a master sponsorship agreement with Atletico Mineiro, moving from the central area of the ‘Galo’ jersey the traditional BMG bank.

 

 

“This is the 2nd move of our brand in Brazil and it will depend on the opportunities. We are here to stay and invest in Brazil,” concluded Betano’s CMO.
