“We managed to be number one in Brazil 30 times, even though São Paulo is the state with the largest number of lottery shops and, historically, with the highest collections," points out owner Alessandro Montenegro.
The store, known as "Rei do Bolão", has already provided more than R$ 125 million (US$ 24m) in prizes. According to the businessman, 35 people became millionaires after a Mega-Sena lottery held at the location. The draws, he recalls, have also secured the Lotofácil main prize twice.
"This achievement is due to the brand building work we do here, teaching people to bet, what they need to do when placing a bet. This is one of our differentials," explains Montenegro.
During the pandemic, the lottery created a delivery system that makes it possible to place bets without leaving home. The option remains active until today.
Another differential pointed out by him is the endorsement of draws. It works as follows: the customer contacts the lottery, buys his ticket, and the lottery records the consumer's name and CPF on the back of the voucher, making it non-transferable. The document is kept in the retailer vaults.
“Ticket endorsement is quite common here. If the customer had the ticket at home, he would have to go check it out at a lottery house. Already leaving the receipt here, we were able to check the draw and see if it won any prizes. If you have won a prize of up to R$ 1,330, we send you the Pix or ask if the customer wants to reinvest in another ticket. And we also send the ticket to a Caixa Econômica branch,” explains Alessandro Montenegro.
CONSCIOUS GAME
The entrepreneur warns bettors about the importance of playing with conscience and moderation, avoiding addiction or bets with values that could compromise the player's financial situation.
”The issue of responsible gaming is always very important. We can increase the odds of winning, but we cannot guarantee the prize. Betting is a form of entertainment, which you can win or not,” he comments.
