SÉRGIO JARDIM, CLARION EVENTS BRAZIL DIRECTOR

"BgC starts with excellent expectations that gaming will be regulated"

(Exclusive GMB) - The executive of the company organizing the congress is very excited about the demand for registrations for the event that starts today, and says that it is only a matter of time for the gaming activity to be approved in Brazil. For him, it is still hard to say when that will happen, but explains that government and society only have to gain from approval.

GMB - What is Clarion's expectation for this edition of the Brazilian Games Congress?
Sérgio Jardim -
Positive. We have several people from the regulatory sector here, from the government, operators, who will act in this market, as well as suppliers of equipment and various services for the activity, who are very interested in this sector and will be the main actors of this important industry when gaming is Implemented in Brazil. It is only a matter of time, because the activity will be regulated. Nothing better than controlled and regulated gaming development for the industry.

And what is the timing for the activity to be regulated?
It is difficult to predict this. But there is a conjunction of factors for this. Society knows that gaming already exists in a way that does not contribute to the state and to the formal generation of jobs. Society knows that regulated gambling will boost this as well as in tax generation and tourism growth. Approval of the law will come at the right time and we believe this will happen soon enough.

The union of two brands, Brazil and Clarion, is a successful partnership?
No doubt. We held the first congress in 2013 and now, in this fourth edition, we believe that the gaming industry is more than mature to pass a serious and appropriate law for the country and for investors. Both ICE and the Juegos Miami, also organized by our company, do not talk about anything other than the imminent approval of legislation in Brazil.

How many people do you expect?
We should about 250 enrolled by the initial forecasts and by the congressmen who have previously registered. It is possible that this number is exceeded.

Was that the number planned?
Yes ... We expected between 250 and 300 people. With the imminent passing of serious legislation, it is possible that we will reach a surprising number, as everyone realizes that the law will come soon.

Still this year?
This agenda is not in our hands. The industry has provided the government with knowledge about what happens in the rest of the world and successful experiences in countries that have passed serious legislation, which opens the possibility of voting as quickly as possible. At this congress we want to show these possibilities and how much the Brazilian government and society will profit from an industry that generates taxes, jobs and a constant flow of tourists.
