Gilson Braga: "Caixa will not start selling lotteries online on 24th"

(Exclusive GMB) – Lottery Superintendent Gilson Braga denied that the owned-state bank will launch the sale of lottery games next Thursday (24th) as FEBRALOT had confirmed. According to him, internal issues and the study of the best moment still prevent the launch. About the percentage of the transfer of online sales to retailers, he said that Caixa did not change the original proposal.

Caixa's Lottery Superintendent Gilson Braga said the entity will not start selling online lottery products next Thursday (24) and that a date to begin doing so has not yet been set.

This information circulated earlier this month when Febralot (Brazilian Federation of Lottery Entrepreneurs) announced in a note that Beto Mansur (PRB-SP) informed the entity that Caixa would start online sales on that date.

According to Gilson Braga, Caixa is solving internal issues on the subject and that study on what would be the best time to launch the sale of lottery products over the internet is still being done.

The Superintendent of Lotteries also said that the state bank still has no definition on how will be the begining of internet sales online since the disclosure of the date to the other details.

Asked by GMB if one of the issues would be Caixa's proposal about the percentage of online sales that would be destined to lottery retailers, Gilson Braga explained that Caixa did not change the offer originally made. The bank offers a commissioning rate of 3.11%, and lottery retailers say it should be 7.11%.

Still on the lottery, Gilson Braga said that Caixa has no comment on the survey that is being made by FEBRALOT with the retailers on the sale of lotteries on the internet. For him, this is an internal affair of the federation and it is not up to the Caixa’s opinión.

In the first part of the research, FEBRALOT announced that 88.4% of the more than 2700 participations, understood that the minimum adequate commision rate should be 7.11%, as the entity argues.
