Favorable to the proposal, the President of the Brazilian Tourism Commission, Deputy Herculano Passos, (PSD-SP), said that different gaming activities, such as bingos, already exist in Brazil, despite being illegal.
For him, with legalization, the country would have control over the activity, businessmen would pay taxes, and increase the generation of jobs with a signed portfolio, in addition to tourism being strengthened.
"We have been losing money for 70 years, and in the G-20, only three countries do not have legalized gambling," he said. "Brazil is against development by prohibiting gambling,” he added.
Meanwhile, The President of the Lottery of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Loterj), Sérgio Ricardo de Almeida, pointed out that gambling is legalized in countries such as France, Italy, United States, Canada and Germany.
In his view, legalization represents an opportunity to increase the state budget. "Rio de Janeiro is prepared to receive casinos," he said. Source: GMB / Agência Câmara News
