Event in Rio de Janeiro brings casino environment, but with no cash bets

While legalization of gambling is debated in Brasilia, the Grand Mercure will host the event Black Casino next Saturday. Inspired by the Las Vegas atmosphere, the event will feature poker, craps, roulette and black jack. But without wagering - which allows the event to happen with no problem - the games will have nothing to chance: every win at the table, the guest will be entitled to a drink at the bar.

The evening will start in the lobby of the hotel, with a poker championship, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Then on the terrace, where, in addition to the games tables, there will be a DJ.

To remind the glamor of American casinos, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the evening in fine dress as they circle magicians, dancers and even a look-alike by singer Elvis Presley, who will promote symbolic marriages among passionate players, says producer Marcelo Saldanha.

According to Saldanha, it was during a trip to Las Vegas that he and his business partner got excited about the idea of reproducing in Rio the experience of the "Sin City". Thus, in October of 2016, they gathered 800 people in the Carioca Mansion, in Alto d Boa Vista, for the first edition of Black Casino. The expectation is to exceed that event: "When we came face to face with that totally alien world of Vegas, we wondered how it was possible that there was no such thing in Rio.”

The producers are sure that gaming will be legalized in the country, and that the Brazilian public will be encouraged. That is why they are already planning to expand their business.

"I think that, when there is legalization, there will be many casinos through the country. We want to consolidate our brand in this edition, so we can partner with producers in other states to run a tour  through all over Brazil."
