Brazilian CFT holds public hearing on LOTEX in the Chamber

The privatization process of LOTEX will be discussed at a public hearing today (Wednesday 6) at 2:30 p.m. in Plenary 04 of the Chamber of Deputies. The meeting is on the agenda of the House Finance and Taxation Commission and is invited by members of entities involved in the current privatization process, such as the Ministry of Finance and BNDES.

The following names were invited to the public hearing on LOTEX:

  • Rubens Rodrigues dos Santos - CAIXA Director
  • Guilherme da Rocha Albuquerque - Chefe do Departamento de Desestatização do BNDES
  • Alexandre Manoel Angelo da Silva - Deputy Secretary of the Secretariat for Economic Monitoring – SEAE
  • Jodismar Amaro - President of the Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies, FEBRALOT

The meeting is the result of request 370/2017 by Deputy Luis Carlos Hauly, who justified the request for a public hearing due to the importance of LOTEX's social role that provides resources for areas such as sports, education, culture and public safety.

The privatization process of LOTEX has undergone changes recently. The concession period went from 25 years to 15 years, which led the auction model back to the original BNDES proposal and the EY / Moyses & Pires / Zancan consortium, with a grant of US$ 160 million.

Currently, the Lotex process is still being analyzed by the Federal Audit Court (TCU). Once approved, the announcement will be published and, after 60 days, the auction will be held.
