In a recent article by AJ Media, who spoke to lawmakers in the Lone Star State, the possibility of any casino legislation being brought up or even considered is highly unlikely this year.
Texas has always pushed against allowing for casinos
but residents have slowly come round to the thinking maybe casinos are not that
bad and could generate jobs and business.
Indeed the state understands millions each year is lost in taxes as Texans
cross the border to gamble in other states, but at present lawmakers have no
interest or appetite in bringing forward any bill calling for gambling to be
made legal.
So 2018 is the best supporters can hope for now and
the focus for legalising gambling will shift to other states for the year.
