Brazilian tourism sector to mobilize in favor of gaming legalization

National Confederation of Workers in Tourism and Hospitality of Brazil (Contratuh) will promote in the second half of March a series of mobilizations in supporting the gaming legalization in the country “as one of the exits against the economic crisis'.

Contratuh informed that it is preparing diferente acts in the main Brazilian cities in order to express support on the legalization of bingos and casinos in the country.

According to the entity, the regulation of the activity could generate fromUS$ 4.8 billion to US$ 6.5 billion per year in taxes, as well as more than 350 thousand formal jobs only with popular local "jogo do bicho”, and another 150 thousand in bingos and casinos.

There are two projects underway in the National Congress for gaming legalization. In the Chamber of Deputies, PL 442/91 awaits the vote on a request for urgency in the house plenary and then to be considered by parliamentarians where it can be approved.

In the Senate, PL 186/2014 will be discussed in the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission); Being approved in the commission will return to the plenary to again be analyzed and voted by the senators.
