This is not the first time that Lummertz talks about this topic. At the
inauguration ceremony as president of Embratur in July 2016, he proposed a set
of measures that sought to break bureaucratic barriers and promote Brazilian tourism.
Among them, a survey for national and international private investment for the
opening of natural parks, the development of theme parks, resorts, casinos and
cruise ships, and flexible investment in historic cities.
In January of this year, during the FITUR in Madrid, the Tourism Minister
himself, Marx Beltrão, had also said that the reopening of integrated resorts
with casinos is already planned, and that is something that needs the approval
of President Michel Temer. Beltrão informed that he was negotiating with the Executive
and that there would be a forecast of an announcement of measures.
"I am optimistic and I will fight to the end for these measures. I
understand that tourism is the sector of the economy that can give a quicker
response to return to growth, but we need these measures. The President
understands our point of view and I believe that during the first half of the
year he will announce the actions to follow," ended Beltrão.
