Playtech became Marvel’s chief license holders after Marvel announced in 2014 they will be terminating their contract with Amaya. According to reports at the time, Amaya’s contract termination was reportedly due to Marvel being acquired by Disney and taking a new, more family-friendly approach, while Playtech was still under an agreement to operate Marvel’s products until this April. A spokesperson from Playtech confirmed this removal was due to an expired licensing deal.
Playtech produced a series of
Marvel-licensed slots based on popular movies from the comic franchise like the
Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 3. The slots were a part of the Playtech Marvel
Progressive Jackpot network, which will likely cease to run as a Marvel jackpot
by the end of this month also.
Playtech are also to launch a number of new omni-channel DC Entertainment slots
based on the Dark Knight Trilogy, Suicide Squad, and Justice League, thanks to
a partnership agreement with Warner Bros Consumer Products from October 2016.
The studio already released a couple of slots based on the classic 1960s Batman
series, including Batman & Catwoman and Batman & the Joker Jewels.
