Caixa Economica Federal announced on Tuesday (28) a net profit of US$ 1.3
billion in 2016. In the previous year, the result was US$ 2.3 billion, a 43%
drop from one year to year. In the fourth quarter of 2016, the bank had net
income of US$ 221.5 million.
Caixa has been responsible for the operations of lottery games in Brazil since
1961 through the division of lotteries. There are 10 types of games: Loteca,
Mega-Sena, Lotofácil, Loteria Federal, Lotogol, Lotomania, Quina, Instant
Lottery, Double Seine and Timemania.
The lotteries, administered by Caixa, are sponsors of the Fund for Student
Financing of Higher Education (FIES), Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and
official sponsor of the Brazilian Paralympic Delegation at the Paralympic Games
in Beijing 2008. In addition, it was also an official sponsor Of the Pan
American Games Rio 2007 and it is of the selections of athletics, of the
gymnastics artistic and rhythmic and of trampoline.
The default rate closed December at 2.88%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points
in 12 months. According to the year, the expenses of provision for doubtful
accounts reached US$ 6,45 billion, an increase of 2.3% over the same period of
2015.
