The second step of the BSOP (Brazilian Series of Poker) has come to an end. The winner of the tournament was Gustavo Reis, who became the Main Event champion after beating 1,306 entries in the competition. Reis needed a lot of technique and patience to overcome a final table that lasted more than 7 hours, especially at some times when he got less chips than his opponents.
This is the first title of the Paulista player, who is a
chef and has a restaurant as a fixed job, at BSOP, yielding the amount of US$
158,000 to the champion, while Felipe Torres, runner-up, earned close to US$
92,000. The Main Event delivered a total of US$ 890,000 in prize money to the 191
best placed.
"I want to dedicate this title in honor of my wife who has suffered all
this time with me. I play some live tournaments but, because of my restaurant, I
could not play as much as I wanted or needed. It's clear that it takes a lot of
study, patience and technique to win so many people, but I am very happy with
the game that I presented during this stage of BSOP Sao Paulo ", commented
the champion.
The next stage of the BSOP will be held in the city of Recife, on May 4- 9,
with the expectation of more than 1,000 competitors in the tournament.
BSOP is a series of poker tournaments held in Brazil since 2006. Today it is
