Georgiades added that the government is nearing the final steps on signing the agreement, with only a few details remaining to be clarified.

According to Sigma’s information there will be a study on the project, which when completed will move to the National Authority for Gaming and Casinos, which is expected to issue the necessary licenses to be constructed in Limassol.
The joint venture form by Melco International Development and Hard Rock International was officially awarded with the only license to build and operate a casino resort in Cyprus last November. The Melco-Hard Rock consortium had submitted the only final bid in the second leg of the government’s tender invitation for an integrated resort casino.
The casino licence will allow the operation of an integrated casino resort in Cyprus for 30 years, as a monopoly for the first 15, as well as a satellite casino and three slot-machine parlours elsewhere in the country.
