GMB - What is the feeling of being the great champion of the Sao Paulo stage of
BSOP? Is it an achievement to really be proud of?
Gustavo Reis - It's a great honor because of the BSOP difficulty. The
number of top-level players, many of them professionals. In the final part the
best known players were falling, which made it easier.
In a final table so disputed, how did
you deal with the pressure that came from the opponents and the fans that
accompanied?
It's quiet for me. I do not feel the pressure, I'm used to playing. I play
only a few tournaments. Because of my profession I do not have time. But, I do
not feel pressure. I've played great tournaments, including two seasons at the
WSOP.
How was your experience at the WSOP?
It was great! Last year I was fantastic. In my best result I finished 300
at Colosso, a tournament of 30 thousand players, with minor by in, and granted a
very good prize.
About winning the BSOP, what was the
main characteristic in your way of playing that helped to win?
I am happy with my way of playing, that fits into many moments and I can
count on the fingers the mistakes I made; which is very good. For an amateur
player, I think the key was that I made right decisions.
Were you always very focused on the
table, was that important to you, too?
Certainly! With a lot of focus you can develope a better game. It’s like
everything you had prepared finally works out.
