Brazil could legalize casinos now with a provisional measure

April can become a historic month for gaming in Brazil. The creation of the new tourism agency (ABRATUR) would include a provisional measure approved by President Michael Temer that would enable the installation of casinos in the country after 70 years.

The international gaming industry has been looking to Brazil waiting for news or moves that could give any idea of a potential regulation of the activity in the country. And April seems to bring some clues after rumors that indicate a possibility of the edition of a provisional measure done by President Michel Temer for the legalization of casinos, solely. According to information that was told to Games Magazine Brasil, the regulation of bingo halls may be approved in the last quarter of the year.

The proposal suggestion is from the Tourism Ministry and the casino legalization would come by a provisional measure which would be edited tomorrow (April 11th), creating the ABRATUR, a new agency that will be responsible for the oversight and promotion of Tourism.

A group of Federal Deputies related to the Tourism industry has sent a draft of the provisional measure to the Ministry of Finance last week, on Thursday 6th. And, after that, it was confirmed that the Secretary of Strategic Subjects would be analyzing the draft.

While other sectors are working in order to block this possibility and keep the general proposal that includes all types of gambling, some news that will define the future of the potential market in Brazil may be known this week.
