"Brazil will legalize gambling and force us to be more competitive"

Brazil will legalize gambling, according to what Tourism Minister, Marx Beltrão, told to his colleague from Uruguay, Liliam Kechichian, when they met in the World Travel Market Latin America 2017, held in Sao Paulo. 'This forces us to be very smart to be competitive,' Kechichian explained.

The Minister of Tourism expressed her reflection in the understanding that one of the attractions of Uruguay for Brazilians is the possibility of visiting entertainment and gambling venues in the main tourist attractions of Uruguay.

She met with Minister Beltrão and also with the Secretary of Tourism of Argentina, Alejandro Eloy Lastra, in the World Travel Market Latin America 2017, which took place between on April 4-6 in San Pablo. The three government representatives participated in a round table discussion following the theme "Tourism as a tool for development".

In that international fair, the Uruguayan Ministry of Tourism promoted the country's offer, with emphasis on the 100 years of presentation of the tango "La cumparsita”. Kechichian had reported in a press conference that in the first three months of this year 137,000 Brazilian tourists arrived in the country, 28.3% more than in the same period of 2016.
