Fantasy sports has been a subject of debate in the state for some time now after Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange in April of last year ruled it illegal and that all operators must end activities in the state.
However, should the bill be signed into law, it would regulate fantasy sports competitions in Alabama and allow the state to tax a portion of operator profits.
Senate
Minority Leader Quinton Ross said: "The world wide web is just open to
everyone; I mean, you can be in Las Vegas and sitting right here in Montgomery,
Alabama. I think it’s necessary to provide this extra layer of protection to
those individuals who play fantasy football.”
