"We talk with Codemig personally, we
can not divulge anything," Zorrilla Santesteban said. In 2015, the company
was already trying to advance with abill and sought investment opportunities in
the area in Minas Gerais.
In 2015, when a possible legalization was considered to be approved later that
year, the company's CEO, Miguel Zorrilla Santesteban, assured that CIRSA was
ready to start business in 2016. "Everything will depend on the passed law.
If I am allowed to work all over the country, I have Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo
and Minas. I particularly like Minas and would like to start here," he
said.
CURRENT SITUATION
"We were contacted, the investors came
and ask to know about possible business conditions, but since Codemig is no
longer the owner of the place, I advised them to talk directly with the Minas
government," says Codemig president, Marco Antônio Castello Branco, in an
interview with O Tempo newspaper.
Still according to Castello Branco, the intention of the State is not to sell
the structure, but to make a concession contract. "From what I read, the
procedure will be done through bidding, thus ensuring all transparency,"
he said.
Currently, the Minas Gerais government is still awaiting the approval of a bill
in the National Congress that legalizes gambling in Brazil. "It's already
a reality and I believe the text will be approved, because different investors
groups are comming and looking for business opportunities, not only in Minas,
but also in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro," concludes Castello Branco.
