Fornatur (National Forum of Secretaries and State Directors of Tourism), Brazilian
entity that brings together the Secretaries of Tourism of all country’s states,
has just elected its new presidente in na event held this Wednesday morning at
WTM Latin America in Sao Paulo. The new presidente is Felipe Carreras,
secretary of Tourism of Pernambuco, who replaces Nilo Felix, from Rio de
Janeiro, a year ago in the position.
One of the main actions of the new president will be bringing again to the
plenary of the Chamber of Deputies the project 442/91 that deals with the
legalization of casinos. Former President Nilo Felix spoke of the importance of
the topic for the entity.
"We need to look at examples such as Macau and Las Vegas, which have
boosted tourism through the legal practice of gaming. Macau receives 31 million
tourists each year, while Las Vegas received 41 million in 2014, being five
million foreigners," Felix said.
