PROMISE TO MODERNIZE THE SEGMENT

Digital lottery is in Brazilian Caixa plans

'Customers will no longer need to go to the lottery shops to place the bets. The idea is that everything can be done through an application that will show even the results of lotteries and betting odds based on most drawn numbers,' says Breno Barros, Director of Innovation and Digital of global provider of technology-based business solutions Stefanini.

Even though the economic downturn in Brazil also has negative impacts on the financial sector, from the end of last year until now, banks' demand for technological modernization has jumped significantly, according to Diário do Nordeste.

Stefanini's Director of Innovation and Digital, Breno Barros, informs that Caixa Econômica, for example, has an ambitious project to create the Federal Digital Lottery. The work has already begun to be done by Stefanini and promises to revolutionize the segment.

"The customers will no longer need to go to the lottery shops to make the bets. The idea is that everything can be done through an application that will even show the results of lotteries and betting odds based on most drawn numbers," he says.

Stefanini is a Brazilian multinational with 29 years of experience in the IT Services sector. Fully verticalized by segment of industries, the consultancy has great expertise in the financial market (serves the ten largest financial institutions in the country), telecommunications, insurance and public sector.

Present in 39 countries, its services offer includes Consulting, Integration, Development of Solutions and Outsourcing for Applications and Infrastructure and BPO for business processes. Recognized worldwide, Stefanini is among the 100 largest IT companies in the world (BBC News) and was named the fifth most internationalized company according to the ranking of Fundação Dom Cabral 2016.

Future

Regarding the future of banks in Brazil and around the world, the executive believes that the institutions will be transformed into "big platforms with banking licenses" to house fintechs, startups that offer financial services and differentiate themselves by the facilities provided by the technology. Brazil is weel represented in this segment by companies like Nubank, Controly and GuiaBolso.

"Creating a bank in Brazil is very difficult. I believe that traditional banks will stay behind, making money by offering more complex products and services to fintechs, which tend to grow. Issuing cards, financing and loans. "

Another bet of Breno Barros is the integration of Brazilian banks with companies from other segments, called Open Banking. He cites the example of Bank of America in the United States, which has a partnership with American Airlines, Uber and Starbucks. "American Airlines customers who go to the airports and call Uber through the application, pay with Bank of America cards, have free coffee at Starbucks before taking the flight," he said.
