ALSPI DEFENDS ITSELF

"Lottery network can not be ruled out by the implantation of innovation"

(Exclusive GMB) - The Caixa’s Digital Lottery project in Brazil and a controversial statement from a Stefanini executive generated the complaint of lottery agencies. Adriana Domingues, communication director of the ALSPI (Lottery Association of Sao Paulo and Interior) states that 'the network has been treated marginally in this process and banking financial services hurt the agencies.'

After the publication of the news "Digital lottery is in Brazilian Caixa plans", many representatives of the lottery sector contacted Games Magazine Brasil in disagreement with a statement from Stefanini's Director of Innovation and Digital, Breno Barros. The technology company official commented: "Customers will no longer need to go to lottery shops to place bets. The idea is that everything can be done through an application that will show even the results of lotteries and betting odds based on most drawn numbers."

Commenting on the controversy, Adriana Domingues, communication director of ALSPI (Association of Lottery of Sao Paulo and Interior) sent a statement to Games Magazine Brazil to clarify the position of the network on this project and the recent news:

"ALSPI understands that any initiative that brings consumer facilities is considered valid and must be implemented by Caixa. Internet betting is the future of the Caixa Loterias and migration to this mode is an inexorable reality.

Notwithstanding this reality, the Lottery Network has been treated marginally in this process. The Lottery Network has always been the main channel for the dissemination and operation of all CAIXA Lotteries and it must be remembered that lottery entrepreneurs invested in the business and need to be considered in this process in order not to scrap the volume of that investments they have made.

This process is still being pursued at a time when CAIXA continues its crusade to devalue the Network through a restrictive policy of distribution of profits generated with lotteries. But mainly the most ominous aspect of this policy is the tariff policy that have taken the lottery to the current state of bankruptcy, using the Lottery Network as an appendage of its banking structure, now in a process of reducing the number of branches, and restricting the readjustment of rates.

In this way, it must be said that the volume of bets and bank transactions that occur in the Lottery Network are significant enough so that the population that does not have access to the Internet, or has a limited one, still can have the option of a physical place where they can go to carry out their transactions and can use the Lottery Network for services that can’t be done on the Internet.

But at a time when there are conversations about privatization of lotteries, it is importante to remember that the Lottery Network represents the private initiative that has always supported CAIXA in its policies, and now can not be simply dismissed by the implementation of this innovation when, before others private agents, should be the first to be considered.

In summary, the Lottery Network depends on the games not to fail, as the banking financial services damage the lottery retailer. We have a delay of 15 years, when Caixa started to adjust rates below annual inflation, and we will turn one year (on June 16th), without no readjustment in banking services again. "
