A US$ 185 MILLION BUSINESS

New hotel-casino may be built next to Paraguayan customs

A property where the National Navigation and Ports Administration (ANNP) and the Customs Directorate in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, are currently operating, is the target of an investment group that intends to build a Hard Rock Casino Hotel. The 11-hectare area, valued at US$ 185 million, is owned by the state.

According to information released by the Paraguayan newspaper ABC Color, the investment group began to strengthen ties with political authorities as soon as President Horacio Cartes took office in 2013. The contact was articulated by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Gustavo Leite, who led a delegation to Israel, where he maintained contact with Venezuelan businessman Simon Falic.

Later, Javier Zacarías Irun, former deputy, also had participation. Another name that seems to have joined the plan was Emilio Augusto Tiky Cubas, current director of the partnership Yacuretá Binacional Entity. According to the ABC Color, about 13 companies are united to follow with the plan to build the hotel on the valuable property.

Within a short time, according to estimations of the newspaper, the place will no longer be a primary zone and will belong to the group of entrepreneurs who want to profit from the new venture.
