Fredric E. Gushin, Spectrum Gaming managing director

“We want to be in Brazil and wherever our expertise is needed”

(Exclusive GMB) - During the BgC, GMB talked with Fredric Gushin, managing director of Spectrum, after his presentation in the panel on regulation. For him, Brazil goes through a pre-approval phase of a consistent law for gaming and is the appropriate time to define how the regulation and control of the activity will be. Gushin understands that a well-regulated industry ensures foreign investment, which is always looking for clear rules.

GMB – In what fields does Spectrum work in the gaming industry?
Fredric Gushin
- We are a global consulting firm that offers advisory services to governments in search of gaming regulation and formation of control structures to ensure clear rules both for governments themselves and for operators and therefore for players, who will have the necessary security to enter a gaming room. We operate in Europe, Asia, the United States and the Caribbean.

In which countries is Spectrum currently present?
We act in more than 40 countries, guiding, investigating and helping governments to maintain transparent and clear operations, defined in their internal rules.

What can Spectrum do for Brazil?
Brazil is now starting to take its most important steps towards the adoption of complete legislation for the sector and regulation is fundamental, so that the activity develops in a serious way and produces benefits for the country and the whole society. It is important to establish good practices for a sector that is beginning to be designed and we have all the technical and professional capacity to guide the government in the direction of the industry to flourish. It is a critical issue to have a good regulation so that the activity attracts investments and becomes a world reference, since Brazil has continental dimensions and has been seen as one of the emerging markets more attractive for the gaming industry.

Do you believe that the country is in the right moment to approve a gaming law?
I think so. The country has been discussing the theme for a long time and in the current stage we recognize that the country is going through exactly the moment of adjustment of the theme of regulation to soon have the activity approved.

Is Spectrum planning to work in Brazil?
We want to be in Brazil and where they need our expertise most. Especially in Brazil, it would be an honor to act for the characteristics of the country and for the fact that a law is being born from the ground, which makes regulation a point to be well discussed so that the sector starts in the right way.
