"In recent years, Macau has become a major tourist destination not only because of gambling, but especially the concept of casinos, hotels and other entertainment offerings," said Michael Soll. "Currently, new projects in Macau are going to add more than 40,000 hotel rooms, demonstrating the success of the concept of integrated resorts," he said.
During the
presentation, Soll recalled that the concept was first tried in Las Vegas, when
MGM created the Mirage Hotel. At the same time, the consultant explained that
Macao's gross domestic product grew from US$ 7 billion to US$ 55 billion in
2016.
Still on the success story that Solls counted, in contrast to Brazil, the
speaker pointed out that Macao received more than 30 million tourists in 2016,
or five times more than the largest country in Latin America: "Today we
have entire families that go to Macau thanks to the concept of integrated
resorts, which proves that the model adopted also demonstrates the success of
the gaming industry, "he said.
Another of the points focused by Michael Soll is the lack of interesting solutions in South America, at the level of gaming offer for high rollers. He considered that currently only in the city of São Paulo are being developed projects that can go in that direction: "Due to the local characteristics, South America has been a little sought after market, especially as far as VIP players are concerned", Pointed out.
