In an interview with popular TV host Amaury Jr.

Brazilian Deputy defends casinos legalization an incentive to tourism

Federal Deputy Elmar Nascimento (DEM-BA), chairman of the Commission on Regulatory Framework for Gaming in the Chamber, was interviewed by the famous TV host Amaury Jr. and spoke about casino resorts, gambling, mega sena, sports betting and warned: 'In a short term we will announce a major investment for Brazil in this new economic activity.'

The interview took place during the birthday party of the former congressman and communications businessman José Camargo. Elmar Nascimento started talking about the rules for installing casino resorts included in the bill that is being analyzed in the congress, said that international businessmen have already expressed interested in investing and that will be a great opportunity for the country.

"Brazil is the only democracy in the world that, unfortunately, does not exploit this economic activity. We do not have the condition to create any other type of tax to finance the Brazilian State, and the alternative we have to collect is what already exists in an illegal way and mainly the investment in casino tourism," he said.

The Deputy revealed the interest of foreign investors in building a new Macau in Rio de Janeiro with investment of US$ 40 billion and generation of 100 thousand jobs.

Regarding the progress of the bill, Elmar Nascimento assured that PL 442/91 is ready to be voted on and should be considered by parliamentarians after the first round vote on the pension reform, one of the most important projects for the government at the moment.

The deputy also spoke about the local popular jogo do bicho that today employs about 800 thousand people in Brazil working without any labor rights and will not be ignored. Sports betting also deserved the highlight of the parliamentarian who said that today Brazilians play on websites from other countries without collecting taxes for Brazil.

Elmar Nascimento also made a criticism of Mega Sena, expressing his opposition to this lottery because it explores the less favored without giving a return in line with what is collected.

"It's a state game of chance that explores the poor. Any game in the world has the payout, which goes back to the player. In casinos is 92% and in the Mega Sena is 35%, and thus eludes the poor with the dream of becoming a millionaire. It's a bad game and the possibility is not enough for the player," said the deputy.

The Amaury Jr. TV show is aired Tuesday through Friday at 12:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. on Rede TV! . The attraction, and its presenter, have more than thirty years of tradition in Brazilian television covering the main events, bringing news and interview with important figures of the high society of the country.
