Global mobile gambling market to grow 19% in 2021

The future of global mobile gambling looks bright as analysts expect the market to grow by 19% in 2021. In its latest research, Technavio pointed out that betting remains to be the go-to game of mobile gamblers, taking up 54% of the market share in 2016.

The research firm, which analyzed the business dimensions of wagering, casino, poker, and lottery, also reported that the growth of the global gambling market will be fueled by gambling enthusiasts who are extremely passionate about gaming.

In 2016, Technavio noted that 73% of mobile gambling users were gambling enthusiasts. Ujjwal Doshi, lead analyst for gaming research, said these “economically sound” gambling enthusiasts tend to have a lavish lifestyle and often turn to mobile gambling games to ease their everyday stress.

“Gambling enthusiasts are extremely enthusiastic and passionate about gaming. They have a positive attitude towards gaming and have knowledge about the games they play. These consumers seek the entertainment value of the game over ROI for their investments,” Doshi said in his note. “These consumers have individualistic and liberal gaming views.”

For operators who are thinking of testing mobile gambling market, Technavio believes that now is the right time to seek opportunities in the mobile world especially when it is still dominated by a few vendors. Currently, the research firm said 888 Holdings, Bet-at-home.com, Bwin.Party, and Ladbrokes dominate the global mobile gambling market.

“The rise in the number of gambling premises across the world has resulted in the high penetration of gambling, which is one of the key factors driving the market growth,” the analyst said. “The market is highly competitive and is witnessing rapid technological advances and changing consumer preferences. With the increase in competition, the market is witnessing consolidation. The influx of private labels in the market is also on the rise.”
