Three gaming giants want to build casinos in Salvador

Three global gambling giants have placed Salvador at the center of the future business map if casino legalization in Brazil is approved. Representatives of Sands Corporation, the MGM Mirage group and the holding company controlled by the Lorenzo brothers and Frank Fertitta - all from Las Vegas - have already visited the city and recently met with Mayor ACM Neto (DEM).

Owner of the largest casino in the world, Venetian Macau, Sands anticipated the intention to build in Salvador the new record holder in the industry.

"The talks were productive. The Baía de Todos os Santos is the region that most arouses interest," says federal deputy Elmar Nascimento (DEM). Former chairman of the Commission on the Regulatory Framework for Gambling in the House, Nascimento articulated executive meetings with the mayor.

Cards on the table

The project to legalize casinos should be put on the voting list after the parliamentary recess. "It's cocked. The mayor (Rodrigo Maia) only asked us to mature a common text with another proposal that is processed in the Senate," says Elmar Nascimento.
