Senator Ciro Nogueira believes in a levy on games and casinos in the order of R$ 20 billion (US$ 6.35b) and, at the same time, in the end of harmful practices like payment of police protection, corruption and “double cash”. Nevertheless, the legalization of gaming faces resistance.
Senators Magno Malta (PR-ES) and Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) defend the rejection of the project. They believe that the exploration of gambling will encourage money laundering in addition to promoting addiction.
