It is not only the foreign companies that are looking with attention the gambling legalization in Brazil. The furniture industry also closely follows discussions in Congress. That's because the calculation is that every thousand open bingos there is a demand for at least 600 thousand seats. Before the prohibition in 2005, there were 1,600 bingos in Brazil.

During that period, at least a dozen of manufacturers of chairs and seats started to attend the sector, with bold design and great options of customization according to the decoration of each rooms.

In addition to armchair manufacturers, table and cabinet companies have also developed themselves during the “bingo era”, offering products suitable for both bingo card rooms and the ones that used benches for computer terminals.

Currently, with the possibility of resumption of the activity, the companies that were active in the sector and migrated to other segments are preparing to re-adjust their production lines to resume serving bingos that can be inaugurated in the future.

More rigor

Following a request for a hearing in the Senate's Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), in early December, the vote on the bill authorizing the exploitation of gambling throughout the national territory was postpone for 2018.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office defends a broad debate on the subject. The fear is that instead of fattening the public coffers, the proposal will serve as a springboard for money laundering and tax evasion in Brazil.
