The licence officially ended on December 31st but after several weeks of talks, the local municipality decided to extend the operation of the company until the new tender for the casino is completed and the winner is announced.
In a statement, Enjoy welcomed the news saying that: “This agreement gives us clarity and allows us to work in a more focused and reassured way in the summer season of 2018, an important period for tourist destinations such as Viña, Pucón and Coquimbo.”
The mayor of Viña del Mar, meanwhile, commented that the tender process was following its course and that once the results of the tender were announced that the winner would be able to begin construction of the new project.
The two top leading casino operators in Chile, Sun Dreams and Enjoy, have put forward their bids for the licence to run the emblematic Viña del Mar casino for the next fifteen years.
In addition to extending its operation in the municipal casino of Viña del Mar, Enjoy also signed a temporary concession agreement with the municipalities of Pucón and Coquimbo, while awaiting the results of the new tender process.
