The main defenders of the regulation of the gaming sector in Brazil in the chambers of senators and deputies did not have this Sunday a positive election. Most of them failed to retain their seats and will not be part of the future Brazilian parliament.
The following is the result obtained by the members of the leadership of the Parliamentary Front for the Approval of the Regulatory Framework of Gaming in Brazil:
- César Halum (PR-TO) (President): Not elected as Senator
- Nelson Marquezelli (PTB-SP) (Vice-Chairman): Not elected as Deputy
- Goulart (PSD-SP) (Secretary-General): Not elected as Deputy
- Evandro Roman (PSD-PR) (Consultative Director): Not elected as Deputy
- Bacelar (PODE-BA) (Representative of the Northeast): Elected as Deputy
- Magda Mofatto (PR-GO) (Representative of the Midwest): Not elected as Deputy
- Hiran Gonçalves (PP-RR) (Representative from the North): Elected as Deputy
- Diego Andrade (PSD-MG) (Representative from the Southeast): Elected as Deputy
- Pompeo de Mattos (PDT-RS) (Representative of the South): Not elected as Deputy
- Renata Abreu (PODE-SP) (Counselor): Elected as Deputy
The luck of other allies to the legalization of gaming in Brazil during this Sunday was also disparate. Herculano Passos (PSD / SP), president of the Joint Parliamentary Front in Defense of Tourism in the National Congress, was able to stay with his seat like Guilherme Mussi (PP-SP), Newton Cardoso Jr. (PMDB-MG) and Helio Milk (DEM-PA). While the federal deputies Luiz Carlos Ramos do Chaeu (PR-RJ) and Cristiane Brasil (PTB-RJ) did not succeed.
On the other hand, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), author of PLS 186/2014 allowing the exploitation of bingos, jogo do bicho, video games and other betting modalities, won his re-election while the rapporteur Benedito de Lira ( PP-AL), who supported the proposal during last March's vote in the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJ), failed to maintain its bench.
