Hotel & Casino Sun Monticello expands gastronomic offer with Starbucks and Burger King

The Sun Monticello casino, flagship of the operator of gaming firm Sun Dreams, continues to increase its commitment to non-gambling businesses and has just opened two new gastronomic venues. Starbucks and Burger King, two of the most important US chains in the world, arrived at Boulevard Monticello to expand the gastronomic offer of the South American resort.

In the new developments, Starbucks and Burger King are investing between US$ 145,000 and US$ 220,000 each. Both are located on Boulevard Monticello, a key space where they will be a lunch and dinner alternative for casino gamblers and their families, as well as for spectators attending the Grand Arena Monticello shows.

"Sun Monticello is making investments that will allow us to enhance the 360 ° experience and strengthen our position as an all-inclusive entertainment venue in the local casino industry," said its general manager, Manuel Rojas.

The two new stores join the restaurant Carpentier, a project led by Chris Carpentier himself, which saw an investment over US$ 725,000, opened last May. All three of them complement the already well-known and extensive gastronomic offerings of the Sun Monticello (Johnny Rockets, Foreman, El Pescador, Santabrasa and Res Angostura), which extends the variety of restaurants in the complex, without leaving aside the hotel's Lounge Bar and bar for drinks in the casino itself.

The executive said the gaming venue will also invest in projects related to family entertainment. "Although gaming is an important pillar in the casino industry, the area of non-games is growing more and more. We are all making a bigger effort in this segment," Rojas said.

These openngs coincide with the 10th anniversary of the largest casino and hotel complex in South America, located just minutes from Santiago de Chile, in a decade full of entertainment, culture and games. From now until the end of the year, surprises, millionaire prizes and international level shows will be announced at the Gran Monticello Arena with artists such as Joss Stone, Pablo Milanes, Luis Jara and Elvis Crespo, among others already announced. In addition, “Chino” Rios will face Nico Lapentti in a tennis exhibition.

Rojas specified that non-gambling resort revenues during the period from January to March 2018 grew 11 percent over the same period last year. This is more than the 3.7 percent annual increase in the gaming business during the first quarter of this year (they went from revenue of US$ 30.6 million in the first three months of 2017 to US$ 31.75 million in the same period of 2018).

Last year, Sun Monticello developed an investment plan of about US$ 20 million, which was divided into three projects: the construction of the Monticello Gran Arena, an event center for 4,000 people that has already paid off; the first gaming bar in Latin America, which meant the renovation of the bar they had before; and the addition of 400 to 500 new gaming machines that added up to 2,000 existing ones.
