After PM 846/18 approval

The advance of Brazil on sport betting legalization generates expectation in the sector

The House of Representatives and the Senate approved the legalization of sports betting in the country with Provisional Measure 846/18 that will be sent to the presidential sanction. In this context, the Online Gaming Summit Brazil event in São Paulo will evaluate the impacts and business opportunities of the sector in the country. “The main suppliers of the sector will be present,” highlights the general director of Clarion Events Brasil, Sergio Jardim.

The Bill by Senator Flexa Ribeiro (PSDB-PA) creates a new fixed odds lottery, designed to frame bets on sports results conducted over the internet. The Provisional Measure introduces new rules for the distribution of money collected from lotteries and provides that the bets must allocate 2.5% of the collection to the National Public Security Fund (FNSP) when they are made by physical ways and 1% if they are placed online.

Regulating the gaming industry has returned to the agenda, both from the House of Representatives and the Senate last week. To discuss the regulation of online games and sports betting in Brazil, the Online Gaming Summit Brazil (OGS) will take place between December 3-4. The event, organized by Clarion Events Brasil, will be held at the Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo and will bring together operators, suppliers of products and services, regulators and authorities.

"Latin America is one of the fastest-growing markets in the industry and estimates suggest that it has moved US$ 4.9 billion in 2017. The idea of this event is to discuss the regulation of online gaming and specifically sports betting, bringing participants to the possibility of attending and contributing to the discussions. The main suppliers of the sector will be present,” explains the general director of Clarion Events Brasil, Sergio Jardim.

Exclusive content - During two days, the event will have a wide content programming, with the realization of ten panels. Among the topics to be addressed are tax and financial challenges to encourage the regulated market, the possibilities of the sports betting market, developments of pro-gambling political forces after the elections, among others. Speakers include government representatives, CEOs, teachers, business owners, consultants, experts and lawyers.

Guided tour - On the first day of the event, four groups will still be able to participate in a guided tour, starting at 6pm, to the Football Museum, where they will have the opportunity to know the history of the sport through 15 thematic rooms.
