OGS Brazil 2018

"A monthly average of 50 million people are looking for bets and results online in Brazil"

The National Superintendent of Lotteries, Gilson Braga, opened the second day of the OGS Brazil 2018 talking how the lottery can serve as an example for the regulation of other online games. During the speech he defended the market and especially the important social function that the collection of the gaming sector has for different projects in Brazil.

Braga began his speech with the scenario of Brazilian crisis. With a lottery collection timeline in the last five years, he showed that there was a decline in 2016 that has been recovered.

The Superintendent defended and spoke of the difficulties of putting Brazil at the level of competitiveness of the international payout:

"It's difficult because you have to think about delivering the product to the customer, that is, the money for him to re-bet and to grow the market." In this sense, Braga cites Mega da Virada as an important product for re-enactment, since it brings media and generates strong expectation as well.

In all his speech to the OGS, Braga stressed that "the reason for the existence of the lottery are important social transfers to Brazil and that is what we work for. The lottery helps in education, security policies, now so evident after the election and so many other social programs. "

The issue of competition with the illegal market was also the subject of Braga's speech. "Here in Brazil we have the competition of several illegal games, the client's immigration is natural, because keeping the client in this regulation is difficult. Caixa will always work to develop products and seek to increase the collection, through channels, products and what is interesting to attract audience," he added.

Online and physical purchase

The Superintendent of Caixa said that important efforts have been made to create new channels and tools to optimize the lottery system as well as attract new audiences and have a wider range of products.

For him the physical bet is still very important in Brazil and is taken as the starting point in the lotteries of Caixa, but with the entry into the online environment, they have achieved a new younger audience. If the physical audience is people over 45, the internet is the opposite.

Braga also says that the lottery site has an average of 50 million monthly access, with people looking for bets and results. "There's a public waiting for the sports betting online and we saw that when entering the market. We want to grow in this market and add to the physical one that is already consolidated in Brazil, but with a different public," he concluded.
