Brazilian pre-candidate defends legalization of gaming and casino in Mato Grosso

'In the country you can bet on almost every game of chance, horse racing, sports lottery ... But cannot on jogo do bicho and casino. Why you can gamble in one and not in the other? We should build, for example, a big casino in Chapada dos Guimarães,' says the farmer Dilceu Rossato (PSL), who works an application to the Government of the State of Mato Grosso state in this year's elections.

Mayor of Sorriso for two terms and considered one of the richest politicians in Mato Grosso - having declared a net worth of more than R$ 91.2 million (USD 2.75mn) in the last electoral process -, the farmer Dilceu Rossato (PSL) works for an application to the State Government in this year's elections.

Rossato, who is from the same party as the presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, also makes the defense of issues considered controversial as the legalization of games of chance. “In the country you can bet on almost every game of chance, horse racing, sports lottery ... But cannot on jogo do bicho and casino. Why you can gamble in one and not in the other?," asks the pre-candidate.

Although he is not competent to deal with these matters if elected, Rossato says he should bring such flags to Bolsonaro, who in his assessment will be the future president of Brazil.

MidiaNews – So, are you in favor of gaming legalization in Brazil?
Dilceu Rossato - Yes! Imagine: on the border of Brazil we have Argentina and Uruguay, where every day Brazilians are flying to bet. The ship lands on the Brazilian coast, enters 20 thousand miles in and can play. That is to say: we are wasting resources that should be in the country. We should build, for example, a big casino in Chapada dos Guimarães (Note: it is a municipality located in central Brazil, 62 km from the city of Cuiaba, the capital of Mato Grosso State). Look at the characteristic of Chapada dos Guimarães. Let's legalize jogo do bicho. How many jobs will we generate, bring people to consume, to spend here in the region? Rather than keep going to neighboring countries. There are many things in Brazil that need to be changed. We cannot live isolated.

What's going on today? Paraguay is attracting Brazilian companies. We are losing competitiveness. And that is what we also want to take as a platform of Government. These are just a few examples of what we want to bring to the claiming president to bring profits to the state.
