Public hearing debates regulation of gaming in Brazil

If it would depend on the council Maurício Trindade (DEM), gambling, such as casino, jogo do bicho and bingo, should be regulated in Brazil. 'Data show that legalization is beneficial, due to the return on revenue and generation of jobs,' said the parliamentarian on Monday morning during the public hearing 'Brazil and the Legal Gaming' held in the auditorium of the Center of Culture of the City Hall of Salvador.

"It is a subject debated and that has bills in the Federal Chamber and also in the Senate. Unfortunately, the topic is still considered a taboo and always suffers interference by moral, political and religious issues. Let's stop demagoguery and let the population decide what should be done," said Maurício Trindade, who promoted the debate.

For council Sidninho (Podemos), there is no possibility of the state maintaining the prohibition in the country of all types of gaming options. "We are close to regulating a law for the legalization of casinos in the country. However, I have reservations about the regulation of only this type of game, which depends on an infrastructure that would only be served, for example, by the South and Southeast regions, which would also be the only beneficiaries," he explained.

Council Ana Rita Tavares (PMB) points out that "lottery house bets have been legalized, but other types of games have been left out, contributing to the circulation of resources that do not return to society, since there is no tax collection." Alderman Alfredo Mangueira (MDB) also defends the regulation of gaming in the country, "especially for the generation of jobs and income."
