In the book, Prestes promotes the debate about gaming from an interesting analysis of the authoritarian rubbish that deprived the Brazilians of the diverse modalities of gaming from the prohibition of casinos, in the decade of 1940, of the strangulation of the state lotteries in benefit of the monopoly of the Union for the exploitation of the activity and a decree law of 1967 that affirmed that it was "duty of the State, to safeguard the integrity of social life, to prevent the emergence and proliferation of prohibited games that are susceptible of attaining national security."
The author recently participated in a panel of the Brasilian Gaming Congress, where he said that it is still needed the courage for political actors to express themselves in favor of the activity. "Everyone knows the benefits of the industry for the generation of taxes and jobs, but they are still trapped by the old and backward prohibitions and limitations imposed by the military dictatorship, which is not in keeping with modernity today."
According to Prestes, society knows what it wants and does not need to be tutored by law of the last century, in a world where today “we are interconnected globally and we can play from the screen of a computer or cell phone in any online casino.”
