Brazilian Deupty Nelson Marquezelli

"I realize that we will approve gaming regulation within the House"

Federal Deputy Nelson Marquezelli participated in Radio Câmara’ show Jogo Rápido, talking about project 442/91, which deals with the Regulatory Framework of Gaming in Brazil. The parliamentarian said that the sector can bring a tax collection that can reach the R$50 billion (USD 13.5bn) in two years, that can receive entrepreneurs willing to invest in different parts of the country and demonstrates that the procedure of PL 442/91 is on track and should be approved in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies.

During Radio Câmara’ show Jogo Rápido Nelson Marquezelli said:

"If we want to give up taxes in some cases like milk, food, clothing, education, we need to also look for new collection sources and gaming already exists in Brazil. There are more than 510 thousand jogo do bicho points of sale, and we have more than 1200 illegal casinos in Brazil. Even Brasilia has five casinos in houses reserved for people to play. Caixa Econômica Federal runs the lottery every day, and we watc some television channels playing in video.

The opening of the poker game in São Paulo with two thousand players made over the internet, with the operation center based in London, without paying any taxes in Brazil. They play around R$ 4 billion (USD1bn) a year. We have 3.5 billion players in the world, Brazil has 200 thousand players that go out to play in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina. Why don’t we regulate something that already exists in Brazil? I supported the bill in the committee with only two opposing votes, which today is with urgent request with President Rodrigo Maia. I realize that we are going to approve the regulation within the Chamber. The first year's revenue forecast is R $24-25 billion (USD 6.%bn), the second year is R$ 50 billion (USD 13bn).

I have been receiving visits from major international investors who want to invest in Natal, Fortaleza, Manaus, São Luis, and also in Rio and São Paulo. Why not do that? It is more employment, more collection and implementing the activity will have tourism development as well. There is alo some criticism that gaming can generate ludopathy. The project already has in the destination of resources the treatment of people who get addicted in to gaming.

But, it will only play who wants and will only play who has the possibility to play. The casinos will also offer gastronomy, games, events, a place for artists, something that already exists in the United States, in several countries in the world. Let's evolve, let's grow, let's have a new source of tax collection and we'll have another big factor of new jobs in Brazil. "
