New casino in Granada awarded to the Novomatic group

The Ministry of Economy, Finance and Public Administration awarded Novomatic the concession of a new casino in the province of Granada, Spain, for 15 years. The offer of the Austrian firm obtained the best valuation of the local Gaming Commission in the public tender forecasting that, once in operation, 200 direct jobs will be generated. Novomatic outperformed competitors Cirsa and Orenes.

In the awarding, the integration of the new facilities in the tourist complex of Monachil has been valued, which already has a hotel with spaces for events and celebrations, sports areas, restaurants and a bullring.

This location will contribute to the promotion of tourism, one of the aspects included in the bidding rules. The location and relationship with the surroundings of the new casino has also been taken into account, since no opposition has been presented by residents of the area.

The gaming floor will have a total of 1,670 square meters, to which are added the complementary facilities of bar, restaurant, and entertainment spaces.

The local Gaming Commission has exclusive powers in matters of casinos, games, and bets and, likewise, it corresponds to the autonomous community the concession and authorization of new gambling casinos through public contest in which aspects such as the touristic interest of the project, the solvency of the promoters and the investment program.

The authorization of a new casino is subject to compliance with certain requirements and minimum conditions, such as the provision of complementary services for bars, restaurants, show halls or parties and lounges.

There are currently five casinos in Andalusia, located in Cádiz (El Puerto de Santa María and San Roque), Málaga (Benalmádena and Marbella) and Sevilla (Tomares).
