The president of Goiás Turismo, Leandro Garcia, is the new president of the National Forum of Secretaries and State Officers of Tourism, Fornatur, whose function is to assist the development of the National Tourism Policy. According to Garcia, everyone recognizes the strength of tourism in the economy, but federal public investment in the area has been falling in recent years and this agenda can not be left out of the electoral debate.
Therefore, the new leader of the Forum announced that his first act will be to hand over to the presidential candidates the Tourism Letter, with the demands of the leaders of the sector throughout Brazil. In addition to advocating a bigger budget for the area, Fornatur has proposals for policies to encourage tourism, promote and strengthen the sector.
Secretaries and state officials deliberate on topics relevant to national tourism, incorporating state, regional and national demands in the elaboration and implementation of policies of the National Tourism Plan and in the discussion of the main Brazilian tourism programs and projects, which subsidize the Ministry of Tourism.
The list of requests is large, and includes the defense of a larger budget for Tourism, the promotion of national and international events, and the creation of an incentive policy for regional aviation. Among the strategies and measures to increase national tourism are: the legalization of casinos in the country to attract tourists and favor collection, implement a decentralization management and regionalization of Tourism and implement a Communication and Publicity Plan that disseminates the actions of Fornatur.
