After Justice rule

Brazilian gaming house Winfil is closed again by Porto Alegre City Hall

Groups of the Porto Alegre City Hall interdicted again the Winfil gaming house, located on Avenida Cavalhada, in the south of the state capital. The action was carried out at dawn this Monday (11) by the Municipal Department of Economic Development (SMDE), after the Justice determined the closure of the venue.

The judiciary served an action filed by the Public Ministry (MP) against the exploitation of games of chance, an activity prohibited under Brazilian law. According to the City Hall, the place has a license to function with services in events and restaurant.

According to the municipal administration, in December 2017 dozens of slot machines were seized by the local Civil Police. In the files of the City Hall at the end of last year, the company that operates the gaming house undertook not to explore games of chance, but it did not comply with the proposal.

In March of this year, the municipality canceled the operating authorizations of the place. However, in a new visit to the venue carried out in June, the MP's prosecution verified that the activities had been maintained, which motivated the request for closure.

The group of local media Gaúcha ZH sought contact with the lawyers of Winfil, but did not obtain any answer.
