Candidate to deputy in Brazil defends installation of resort casino in Rio de Janeiro state

Candidate to federal deputy and president of the PT in Rio de Janeiro, Washington Quaquá, said that he is in favor of the construction of a Resort Casino in the area of Restinga de Marica. He said the venture would attract foreign investment and would be a source of development, job creation and income for the region. Quaquá is from the same party as Fernando Haddad, the candidate with more changes to become president of Brazil.

In his first campaign rally, the candidate for Federal Deputy Washington Quaquá (PT), defended the installation of the Port of Jaconé (TPN), in addition to a Resort in the Restinga area of Maricá along with a casino.

Quaquá believes in foreign investments as a way of developing the region and generating employment and income. Along with Senator and candidate for re-election Lindberg (PT), Quaquá said he will do his best to bring the port and the resort with casino.

During his speech, Quaquá explained his dialogue with Lindbergh: "The resort will provide qualified employment for the people of Zacarias (neighborhood of Maricá) and will help the indians. It will generate 3 thousand 5-star hotel rooms. I asked Lindbergh once because we are struggling to have a casino there. And the Casinos Law is being approved in the National Congress. And Lindbergh kind of was against the casinos because he had no choice. I said, 'Lindbergh, you're going to help me.' Maricá is in the spout to win a casino, the people of Las Vegas want to come and invest here. And by law it will only be possible to have two casinos per state and for sure one goes to Barra da Tijuca and another to Rio ... and will not have anything for Marica."

"There’s an amendment there saying that anywhere that had more than 2 thousand rooms in five stars hotel can have a casino, and Lindbergh approved it. In the Committee on Economic Affairs of the Senate and the Senate this became law. This is an example of what Lindbergh is already helping Maricá. This project goes there to the Chamber and we will approve it. Maricá will be much stronger in Brasilia," concluded Quaquá.

It is important to remember that Senator Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) was one of those who voted against PLS 186/2014, authored by Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), which authorizes the exploitation of online and face-to-face gaming in the national territory. However, now in the campaign, he changed his opinion.

"The fishing village of Zacarias will not only be preserved, but it will receive a portion of the money from the rent of the rooms. Some of the money will go to the Fisherman's Village of Zacarias," said Quaquá.

The campaign rally was held on the Cassorotiba Road, at the entrance to the Santa Paula condominium, and was attended by the candidate for Federal Deputy Quaquá, State Representative and candidate for reelection Zeidan, Senator and candidate for reelection Lindberg, deputy mayor Marcos Ribeiro and councilors who support the candidacies of the PTs. Mayor Fabiano Horta did not attend the event due to health reasons.
