Asked by the MP, Brazilian Justice determines closure of Winfil gaming house

At the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office in a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor's Office for Housing and Defense of the Town Planning Order of Porto Alegre, the court preliminarily determined the immediate closure of the Winfil gaming house, located in the southern part of the capital. The owners will also not be able to use the property for any purpose, especially for exploting games of chance, as had been happening until then.

According to the promoter Cláudio Ari Melo, the petitioner, the closing request was made because the house works in disagreement with its license and for operating games of chance, a practice not tolerated by the Brazilian law.

"The Municipality had already banned the establishment. However, the company did not fulfill the determination, continuing to function even after the cancellation of its permits by the City Hall, including the protection and fire prevention - PPCI ", explains the promoter.

The place had obtained the permits signing a pledge that it would not exploit gambling or something similar, restricting its activities to a house of events and entertainment.

In a visit carried out in February this year by the Public Prosecutor's Office, there were approximately 320 gaming machines.

After recommendation of the MP, the Municipality canceled the operating authorizations. However, in a new visit carried out in June, the Prosecutor's Office found that the activities were maintained, thus joining the lawsuit whose injunction was judged last Friday.
