The survey includes the seven Caixa Lottery modalities that work on the numerical prognostic system (draws of number combinations). The games are Mega Sena - Lotofácil - Quina - Lotomania - Dia de Sorte - Dupla Sena and Timemania.
The lottery preferred by Brazilian bettors is Mega Sena, with US$91.5 million collected in bets during August. In second place comes Lotofácil, another modality very well known by Brazilians, with Lotofácil raised US$66.3 million.
Considering that the Brazilian population is approximately 207 million inhabitants, this means that on average each Brazilian spent the equivalent of US$ 1.25 in lottery games from Caixa only in the month of August.
And how much was paid in prizes? The amount of US$ 76.75 million was paid to the winners, remembering that this amount encompasses all the awards. For example, Mega Sena pays prizes to those who hit six - five or four numbers, while Lotofácil pays prizes to the bettors which hit from 11 to 15 numbers and so on according to each mode rule.
The Caixa Loteries that paid the highest value to the winners is Lotofácil (US$ 23.9 million) followed by Mega Sena (US$ 21.25 million). Third is Quina, that paid US$ 20.3 million to the winners.
To complete the list referring to the amount paid, the Lotto Day lottery paid US$ 5.7 million to the winners. Next comes Lotomania (US$ 3.7m), Timemania (US$ 967k) and finally Dupla Sena with payment US$ 886k.
Dia de Sorte is a highlight among Caixa’s lotteries. Despite the preference of the Brazilians for Mega Sena, the new lottery of Caixa created in 2018 deserves to be highlighted in the list because it is the fourth preferred among Brazilians. This shows that the locals prefer modalities in which winning a prize is easier from a statistical point of view, such as the traditional Lotofácil and now also Dia de Sorte.
The information in this report was collected with the support of the site Foco em Loterias, which has a complete database of all lottery draws of Caixa. Federal Loteca and Lotogol modalities were not included.
