Governor of Minas Gerais favors casino proposal

Romeu Zema Neto, a 54-year-old entrepreneur and new governor of Minas Gerais from Partido Novo political party, defended the legalization of the casinos in Brazil. 'Personally, I am supportive, as long as there is a choice of specific venues to set up casinos. It would be a way to increase the revenue because today who likes to play goes outside Brazil”, Romeu said. This support for the activity joins that of his colleague from Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel.

Attendees of Condomínio do Frade, in Angra dos Reis (RJ), welcomed the Bolsonaro administration's intention to legalize casinos in Brazil. This is because the team that discusses the issue included the Ilha Grande bay region in mapping potential areas for project implementation from structures they call "integrated resort", a nomenclature that would not shock potential evangelical voters.

Regarding the casino proposal, Governor Romeu Zema told the column that he compares their activity to lotteries: "The return of these types of games depends on the endorsement of Congress and the presidential sanction. Personally, I am in favor, as long as there is a choice of specific venues for setting up casinos, with strict rules to prevent membership in criminal organizations. It would be a way to increase the collection. Currently, those who like to play go out of Brazil to do this”.

Romeo Zema Neto is a Brazilian entrepreneur and politician, affiliated to the Partido Novo and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Grupo Zema, since the end of 2016. Recalling that Minas Gerais and its Water Circuit has already been a reference for structures for such, governments state and federal governments now tuned for new currencies have everything to rescue this "source" through joint action.

In the team, some say that the biblical bench will have to understand that this is one of the ways to generate employment and income in the country. In the case of one of the most beautiful regions of Brazil, better still for the development of our tourism. It is worth remembering that of the group of the 20 richest countries in the world, 93% have legalized games.

In this sense, tourism minister Marcelo Álvaro ensures that Minas does not miss out on this mapping of potential areas to release the activity. "I think we have to move forward in a discussion that involves integrated resorts, not bingo or gambling”. he said.

The column found that Brazilian summer vacations in resorts, especially in vacation homes, hotels and resorts, were short. People usually stay for a week at their destinations. "Turning back" again in the holidays. In addition, idleness for villages, towns, farm hotels etc. The arrival of the casinos would entail more incentives for the tourist development of these regions, bringing, even, new Brazilian and foreign visitors.
