“Brazil will become the biggest market in LATAM, only the sky will be the limit for this country”

Once again, BetConstruct performs at the ICE in London next month. The regional director for Latin America, Anna Shahbazyan, gave an exclusive interview to the GMB where she tells the news that the company should show in the Great fair of games, plans for 2019 and the expectation for the regulation of sports betting in Brazil. 'We are awaiting the end of regulation before the first half,' Shahbazyan said.

Once again you are participating at ICE. What will the company showcase this year in London to the market

Anna Shahbazyan - Each year BetConstruct comes with a new concept and ICE 2019 will not be an exception. Throughout the whole year we have been working on our revolutionary THIRD EYE product and alongside our wide product range to be discussed during the expo, our AJNA will be revealed with its complete scope and visitors are going to see something they’ve never seen before. As every year, BetConstruct will be among the most talked about companies of the event.

What themes or topics do you imagine will be the most relevant in this edition of this traditional expo?

The most actual for BetConstruct is to learn about recent industry changes and inventions, particularly, sports betting allowance in the USA and its consequences. Also, the overall new trends of 2019 will be very important. ICE have always been the kickoff of the year for the industry.

The online gaming sector seems not to slow down its growth before the physical ... Do you consider this trend will deeper in 2019? Why?

As you can assume from the recent changes made in the UK legacy, land-based sportsbook is having a hard time keeping up with the online business. However, the issue is not only in the gaming sector, but in our everyday lives. You can see it with retail shops, grocery shopping and many others. Online is here to stay!

What balance does the company make of 2018?

2018 was indeed great for us. With a number of regulatory amendments such as Brazil and the USA approving sports betting, we are on our way to a new success level. The same is for Peru. 2018 was a year when we consolidated ourselves in LATAM. Now we are recognised as one of the market leaders of the region. Also, 2018 was a year of the World Cup, which indeed was of a great favour to gaming business.

Can you anticipate some plans, projects or product development in the folder for 2019?

As mentioned before, some great advancements are yet to come in 2019. At ICE 2019 our visitors are solicited to see how people do business and what it looks like in reality rather than in special marketing commercial. Our giant team prepared the whole range of gaming cargo including Casino Suite, Live Casino, Sportsbook, Virtual Reality Casino, Fantasy Sports and many others. Each of the product will be advanced during the coming year to be brought to its best condition and quality. In this huge industry full of serious players all you need to do is to improve each hour.

What role does Latin America play for you?

Latin American market is the one which grows at an enormous pace, hence making us interested in. For BetConstruct it is great to be here, especially now, when Brazil and Argentina are opening their markets, setting a new tone for the whole industry.

What products / services are most successful in the region?

Currently, Virtual Sports and Casino are gaining unique market shares in the region, however the most widely required one is still sports betting, and the LATAM passion for their national teams will not be fading in the near future.

How do you see the processes of legalization and regulation in Brazil specifically? Especially after the recent legalization of sporting bets.

We are waiting for the regulation to be completely finalised. We see this issue as the biggest hurdle and hopefully it will be solved before the first semester. After that the sky will be the limit for Brazil, and so far it will become the biggest market in LATAM, and maybe even one of the top markets in the world.
