A new edition of G2E gathers the international gaming industry in Las Vegas

The gaming international community waits all year for this week. After yesterday’s complete day of educational sessions, from today until Thursday the industry gathers at the Sands Expo and Convention Center for the Global Gaming Expo (G2E), three days of product releases, new developments, and techonology demonstrations. For this 19th edition, nearly 30,000 industry professionals are expected. Due to this week intense agenda of LOTEX tender, the Brazilian government will not send representative to the event this year.

Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the largest gathering of global, commercial and tribal gaming professionals in North America, showcases the latest developments in gaming technology and features new educational content that is fast-paced and actionable. Attendees will experience firsthand the new products and innovative technologies showcased on the expo floor.

Starting yesterday (Monday), industry leaders and regulators discussed about the rush of sports wagering, player development and marketing, the expanded use of information technology, casino security, food and beverage trends and regulatory compliance. A full day of educational sesiones with panels and roundtables.

“G2E has everything you need for your casino floor and across your entire operation—from traditional casino fare to non-gaming amenities and digital products—G2E is where business growth is accelerated,” states the organizers of the event.

Nearly 30,000 gaming industry professionals, 13.5% of them from Europe, Asia and other continents, are expected to attend this year’s G2E, the 19th edition of the event since the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions opened the first one in Las Vegas in 2001.

Allie Barth, the association’s vice president of industry relations, said the event is crucial for operators, suppliers and other stakeholders to come together at G2E to discuss the opportunities and issues the gaming industry faces. This allows “for robust networking and business opportunities as the industry continues to expand at an unprecedented pace,” Barth said.

Nearly 400 gaming exhibitors, including 90 showing products for the first time, will attend. Thousands of products will be on display beginning today (Tuesday) when the trade-show floor opens.

Big names in the industry and celebrities will show up to give their views and attract attention to products. Attendees will see 4D slot machines, sleek bartop games and facial-recognition technology.

Outside the show floor, educational sessions will focus on a variety of topics, from sports betting to the #MeToo movement.

Today kicks off with Bill Miller, president and CEO of the AGA, a trade group representing the US$261 billion U.S. casino industry, delivering the annual state of the gaming industry address.

With more than a dozen panels scheduled on various aspects of sports betting, exploring technology, policy and regulation, the flashing lights, gorgeous graphics and iconic sounds of slot machines are the biggest draw of G2E, and the trade-show floor is expected to be mobbed when it opens today.

After a long time, the Brazilian government will not be represented in this edition of G2E despite the invitation extended by the event organizers. The decision is due to the intense work that the Ministry of Economy has this week and next one with the tender for the Exclusive Instant Lottery (LOTEX). Proposals are received until Thursday this week, while the final decision on the winning company will be known on Tuesday 22nd.
