A day before G2E, in Las Vegas

The Brazilian gaming market had its space for debate at Clarion’s Ampersand

As an event prior to the beginning of G2E, Clarion organized in Las Vegas an open space for sharing ideas and knowledge called Ampersand, dedicated to entrepreneurs of the industry. There, lawyer Luiz Felipe Maia headed a debate group about the situation of the Brazilian gaming market. Ewa Bakun, Director of Vision and Industry Engagement at Clarion Gaming, is responsible for developing the successful Ampersand.

Maia participates every year of G2E, and the events organized by Clarion. For the international industry, he is one of the references when it comes to knowing what is happening in Brazil in terms of legalization and market regulation.

He is a founding partner of the law firm Franco, Yoshiyasu, Maia, Simões and D'Alessio Advogados and head of the gaming, internet and technology team. He has over 18 years of professional experience involving business structuring in Brazil. He received several international awards in recognition of his role as a gaming and technology lawyer in Brazil and was selected by the international publication Lawyer Monthly among the top 100 lawyers in the country.

Ampersand, Clarion Gaming's free to join research and knowledge sharing initiative for professionals working in the global industry, celebrated yesterday its second birthday in Las Vegas. The Ampersand Assembly was meeting the day prior to G2E with membership on course to break the symbolic 3,000 figure ahead of February’s edition of ICE London.

Ewa Bakun, Clarion Gaming’s Director of Industry Insight and Engagement and the person responsible for developing Ampersand, confirmed: “We have been delighted with the response to Ampersand which is unique to Clarion Gaming and whose membership continues to grow. Over 60 industry decision-makers and Ampersand members were there once again prior to G2E for a day of free-flowing, open and focused conversations to brainstorm how the industry can address some of the key challenges and opportunities around land-based and interactive gambling, sports betting and hospitality.”

"Using the format of Open Space, the Ampersand members and ICE North America friends participated in what has become an annual meeting, very different from a traditional conference framework, to co-operate, share best practice and network in an informal and inspirational setting. The next Ampersand Assembly will then take place in London on 30 October followed by our biggest meeting of the year which takes place at ICE London in February 2020,” Bakun added.

Members receive a number of important benefits including access to exclusive Ampersand drinks receptions which are held alongside Clarion Gaming's global shows, entry to Ampersand Lounges at the ICE and iGB events and invitations to participate in the Ampersand Assemblies, such as the event taking place prior to G2E. Twice a year, Ampersand surveys its global membership base to gather intelligence on the biggest challenges in gaming. Results are then independently analysed and delivered in authoritative Ampersand State-of-Play Reports packed with business critical insights.
