Roberto Quattrini, Country Manager of IGT Brazil

"IGT and SG are happy to operate LOTEX, public will be able to play by July 2020"

Roberto Quattrini, director and Country Manager of IGT Brazil, and Michael Conforti, President of Global Strategic Accounts of Scientific Games, expressed their satisfaction on obtaining the LOTEX concession. They explained that both companies move 80% of the worldwide instant lottery market and that they joined because Brazil is huge. 'We are going to analyze the investments that we will make here and the idea is to start selling in June or July 2020, in lottery retailers and other points of sale,' they promised.

“IGT and Scientific Games are very happy with this new venture, and we believe that in July 2020 the public will be able to play,” commented Roberto Quattrini minutes after the result of the auction was announced. “We are very happy for the invitation of the Brazilian Government and for having managed to keep this concession. Our consortium is made up of the companies IGT and Scientific Games, in 50% and 50% each,” he added.

“The total Instant Lottery market in the world moves US$ 80 billion a year. IGT and Scientific Games have an 80% of market share. Both companies are listed on the New York Stock Exchange,” he said about the experience of both firms. “The two companies have innovative games and mechanics, with anti-fraud printing system, trademarks already registered. In Italy we sell instant lottery for R$ 45 billion (US$ 10.9bn) a year, and it is a much smaller market in terms of people,” he also said.

Regarding the local market, que mentioned that their “business plan cannot be disclosed now. But we believe that at the end of the 15-year plan proposed by the Government, Brazil will earn about R$ 19 billion (US$ 4.6bn). It is not important the grant amount because that money that we save now, will then be invested in the product. These two companies got together because Brazil is not an easy country. There are 26 states and a huge territory.”

“The calculations we have made indicate that the turnover will be R$ 112 billion (US$ 27.15bn) in total sales in 15 years. Now that we win, we are going to move forward with investments and other local issues here in Brazil. We have already thought about it, but now it is time to analyze it better and move forward,” Quattrini also mentioned about local figures and next steps.

“The public can buy their ‘raspadinhas’ (scratch cards) from the lottery retailers and points since 6 months after the contract homologation, what means in June or July of 2020,” Quattrini concluded.
